Engineering > Sample Making

Our capabilities and equipment in our sample making area located in Northampton are second to none. We are proud of our facilities but even more outstanding is our award winning technical design team.

High quality precision prototypes are produced directly from CAD data using the latest technology in CNC machinery. Our computer controlled machines have multi tool change capabilities to speed sample production and efficiency. These powerful machines cut low to high densities of expanded foam to produce accurate samples for fit and evaluation.

Precise moulding tolerances are achieved through CNC (Computer Numerically Controlled) machining in our mould making facilities. Parts are machined directly from 3D CAD models.

The highest level of expertise is applied to all projects during every phase of the machining process, from the CAD file evaluation through fixture preplanning, machine programming and final operations.

Using a multi tool changing CNC to machine foam provides a high quality, repeatable and cost effective solution to the problem of quickly producing accurate prototype samples.

There are four main disciplines we can adopt when it comes to making samples by hand:

  • Hotwire guillotine
  • Hotwire profiler
  • Band saw
  • Bridgeport milling machine

One off samples can be sculpted by hand into any shape. Samples can be made from a wide range of materials and densities.

If the customer requires multiple samples the CNC is used for speed and to assure identical pieces. Doing this means customers can run their own tests and trial the pack themselves before investing in a tool.
