SupraTec

Put most simply, SupraTec is an advanced manufacturing technique that has been developed by SCA Foam Products.

It takes insert moulding to the next dimension and allows us to produce an airtight expanded foam internal lining which forms an integral part of an outer inject moulding case.

  • Advanced manufacturing technique
  • Three dimensional moulding
  • Foam may be sealed airtight with another material such as ABS
  • Additional fixing components may be moulded in at the same time
  • Multi material moulding
  • Channels for cable routing can be included

SCA Foam Products has developed insert moulding to another dimension. Using advanced manufacturing techniques (SupraTec); we can mould expanded foam airtight to an outer injection moulded casing, whilst allowing multiple materials to also be included, such as fixing components.

An excellent example of this is when working in partnership with Vent-Axia Ltd, the SupraTec process was applied to produce the award winning ‘Air Minder’ domestic heat recovery ventilation system.

The Air Minder consists of two part outer ABS casing with four turrets that are all lined with expanded polystyrene. The durability and insulation properties of expanded polystyrene makes this material perfect for lining the main ABS body casing, which holds the heat exchanger cell.

Four ducting turrets are lined with expanded polystyrene using a unique three-dimensional moulding technique, which is the first ever process achievement of this kind.
